What Will Losing The Bush Tax Cuts Cost You?

October 12th, 2010 by bmclain-greenville

If Congress doesn’t get off their posteriors and extend the Bush tax cuts, January 1, 2011 will be a more expensive day for everyone. In every tax bracket, not just “the rich”, whoever they are. Pres. Obama says he wants to cut taxes for everyone except “millionaires and billionaires”, except the taxes will go up for those families making $250,000 a year, so I guess he means “quarter millionaires” also.

Here’s a link to a calculator so you can figure what it’ll mean to you.

“Into The Wild Blue Yonder”…..

October 11th, 2010 by bmclain-greenville

Just came back from a once in a lifetime experience. I flew all over Greenville in a vintage B-17 bomber. It’s living history The B-17 was the heavy bomber that was vital to our victory in Europe in World War 2. I’ll write more about the flight later, but in the meantime, you can have the same experience of flying in a B-17. It’ll be here today and tomorrow and flight times are available.

Here’s the High School Principal speech.

A Speech Every American High School Principal Should Give By Dennis Prager

If every school principal gave this speech at the beginning of the next school year, America would be a better place.

To the students and faculty of our high school:

I am your new principal, and honored to be so. There is no greater calling than to teach young people.

I would like to apprise you of some important changes coming to our school. I am making these changes because I am convinced that most of the ideas that have dominated public education in America have worked against you, against your teachers and against our country.

First, this school will no longer honor race or ethnicity. I could not care less if your racial makeup is black, brown, red, yellow or white. I could not care less if your origins are African, Latin American, Asian or European, or if your ancestors arrived here on the Mayflower or on slave ships.

The only identity I care about, the only one this school will recognize, is your individual identity — your character, your scholarship, your humanity. And the only national identity this school will care about is American. This is an American public school, and American public schools were created to make better Americans.

If you wish to affirm an ethnic, racial or religious identity through school, you will have to go elsewhere. We will end all ethnicity-, race- and non-American nationality-based celebrations. They undermine the motto of America, one of its three central values — e pluribus unum, “from many, one.” And this school will be guided by America’s values.

This includes all after-school clubs. I will not authorize clubs that divide students based on any identities. This includes race, language, religion, sexual orientation or whatever else may become in vogue in a society divided by political correctness.

Your clubs will be based on interests and passions, not blood, ethnic, racial or other physically defined ties. Those clubs just cultivate narcissism — an unhealthy preoccupation with the self — while the purpose of education is to get you to think beyond yourself. So we will have clubs that transport you to the wonders and glories of art, music, astronomy, languages you do not already speak, carpentry and more. If the only extracurricular activities you can imagine being interesting in are those based on ethnic, racial or sexual identity, that means that little outside of yourself really interests you.

Second, I am uninterested in whether English is your native language. My only interest in terms of language is that you leave this school speaking and writing English as fluently as possible. The English language has united America’s citizens for over 200 years, and it will unite us at this school. It is one of the indispensable reasons this country of immigrants has always come to be one country. And if you leave this school without excellent English language skills, I would be remiss in my duty to ensure that you will be prepared to successfully compete in the American job market. We will learn other languages here — it is deplorable that most Americans only speak English — but if you want classes taught in your native language rather than in English, this is not your school.

Third, because I regard learning as a sacred endeavor, everything in this school will reflect learning’s elevated status. This means, among other things, that you and your teachers will dress accordingly. Many people in our society dress more formally for Hollywood events than for church or school. These people have their priorities backward. Therefore, there will be a formal dress code at this school.

Fourth, no obscene language will be tolerated anywhere on this school’s property — whether in class, in the hallways or at athletic events. If you can’t speak without using the f-word, you can’t speak. By obscene language I mean the words banned by the Federal Communications Commission, plus epithets such as “Nigger,” even when used by one black student to address another black, or “bitch,” even when addressed by a girl to a girlfriend. It is my intent that by the time you leave this school, you will be among the few your age to instinctively distinguish between the elevated and the degraded, the holy and the obscene.

Fifth, we will end all self-esteem programs. In this school, self-esteem will be attained in only one way — the way people attained it until decided otherwise a generation ago — by earning it. One immediate consequence is that there will be one valedictorian, not eight.

Sixth, and last, I am reorienting the school toward academics and away from politics and propaganda. No more time will devoted to scaring you about smoking and caffeine, or terrifying you about sexual harassment or global warming. No more semesters will be devoted to condom wearing and teaching you to regard sexual relations as only or primarily a health issue. There will be no more attempts to convince you that you are a victim because you are not white, or not male, or not heterosexual or not Christian. We will have failed if any one of you graduates this school and does not consider him or herself inordinately lucky — to be alive and to be an American.

Now, please stand and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of our country.

A History Lesson

September 28th, 2010 by bmclain-greenville

There are some advantages to having reached the advanced stage in life at which I find myself. One is that, even though my memory may not be as sharp as it once was, I lived through much of it and therefore have a perspective on where we are now and how we got here.

There was an article published this week at National Review that can give you much of that same perspective, without having had to live through it.

James C. Bennett wrote the piece called “The Great U Turn”.

I share it with you here.

Merry November!

September 22nd, 2010 by bmclain-greenville

MERRY NOVEMBER!

Gift wrap them and send them all home

‘Twas the night before elections
And all through the town
Tempers were flaring
Emotions all up and down!

I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
Had cut off the TV
Tired of political crap.

When all of a sudden
There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet
They wanted my pay
To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!

He snatched up my money
And quick as a wink
Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink

He then rallied his henchmen
Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
To tear my country apart!

‘On Fannie, on Freddie,
On Biden and Ayers!
On Acorn, On Pelosi’
He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn’t stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think
On this one final note-
IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM
GET OUT THERE & VOTE!!!!

Can you be a good Muslim and a good American?

September 13th, 2010 by bmclain-greenville

That’s the question posed in an email I read on the show today.

Here’s the response.

This question was forwarded to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years.
The following is his reply:

Theologically - no. . . . Because his allegiance is to Allah, The moon god of Arabia .

Religiously - no. . . . Because no other religion is accepted by His Allah except Islam .  (Quran, 2:256)(Koran)

Scripturally - no. . . . Because his allegiance is to the five Pillars of Islam and the Quran.

Geographically - no . . . . Because his allegiance is to Mecca , to which he turns in prayer five times a day.

Socially - no. . . . Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to  make friends with Christians or Jews .

Politically - no. . . . Because he must submit to the mullahs (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America, the great Satan.

Domestically - no. . . . Because he is instructed to marry four Women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him (Quran 4:34 )

Intellectually - no. . . . Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.

Philosophically - no. . . . Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran does not allow freedom of religion and expression Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist.  Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.

Spiritually - no. . . . Because when we declare ‘one nation under God,’ The Christian’s God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as Heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in the Quran’s 99 excellent names.

Therefore, after much study and deliberation…. Perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. - - - They obviously cannot be both ‘good’ Muslims and good Americans.  Call it what you wish, it’s still the truth. You had better believe it. The more who understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future.

The religious war is bigger than we know or understand….

Information On Glenn Beck Trip

August 20th, 2010 by bmclain-greenville

There are several people working on putting together bus trips for the 8/28 event in washington with Glenn and Sarah Palin. The permit has now been granted for the event. here’s the link to that story…

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/local-breaking-news/dc/permit-for-palin-rally-approve.html

Here’s information on the local efforts to get trips going. Call Chris at 864-277-2383 or email her at sassydue@aol.com. She’s working on buses from Greenville. She’s also looking into buses for a 9/12 trip to D.C.

Here’s some other more information from Clyde McKenney working on setting up trips. Hope this helps.

Happy birthday, Bobby Mac! I would really appreciate a plug on your show today for my “proposed” bus charter from GSP to the Restoring Honor Rally on 8/28. Feel free to direct listeners however you prefer - to WORD’s website, or the Bus Map on glennbeck.com, or my name and email address (clyde@mckenney.com) for more info. So far, I have just 14 interested, and we need at least 20 to get the cost down. Below is what I have sent those who have inquired: PROPOSED ITINERARYFriday 27 August 7:00 AM Depart from Greer SC GSP Airport(I suggest the airport to make use of secure long-term parking)1 or 2 possible stops en route to pick up passengers4:00 PM Arrive at Crystal City hotel(s) in Arlington VA next to DCA Airport Sunday 29 August 1:00 PM Depart from Arlington VA1 or 2 possible stops en route to drop off passengers9:00 PM Arrive at Greer SC GSP Airport Thus 2 nights stay is required. FYI, I reserved my own room at the Crystal City Marriott @ DCA Airport, at the “GLENN BECK” group rate of $109.14/night incl. taxes. The Marriott is directly across from the Crystal City Metro Station. I am not sure whether any rooms are still available there, but there are many similar hotels in the Crystal City / airport area. I suspect we may be able to make perhaps a maximum of 3 hotel stops before the bus cost would go up. I requested charter quotes from 6 bus companies, and the lowest was $3100 for a 55 passenger coach (from an avid Beck fan :)This amounts to…15 passengers @ $20720 passengers @ $15531 passengers @ $10040 passengers @ $7855 passengers @ $57 As of this email, I have received 14 inquiries.Obviously there needs to be more of us before we can commit to a bus charter. PLEASE advise me if you are more than 1 passenger, OR if you are no longer interested. I will send everyone an email update daily.
