Hi,
Yesterday on the show I read an email called “2 Stories”. It had a pretty emotional impact on a lot of you and I got a lot of calls and emails asking me to post it here.
In the meantime I got an email citing a Snopes column on this that claims Easy Eddie’s story was not exactly as portrayed in the original email, that he was more of a crook than the “2 Stories” version made him out to be.
Frankly I think Snopes is splitting hairs on this one. The original “2 Stories”version plainly says he was a crook. However, in the interest of fairness I’m posting the original email, then the Snopes reply to it.
In any event, whatever Easy Eddie’s degree of criminality, it certainly does nothing to detract from the heroism of the story.
Here they both are;
There were two things he
couldn’t give his son; he couldn’t pass on a good name or a good
example.
One day, Easy Eddie reached a difficult decision. Easy Eddie
wanted to rectify wrongs he had done.
He decided he would go to the authorities and tell the truth
about Al “Scarface” Capone, clean up his tarnished name, and offer his
son some semblance of integrity. To do this, he would have to
testify against The Mob, and he knew that the cost would be great.
So, he testified.
Within the year, Easy Eddie’s life ended in a blaze of gunfire
on a lonely Chicago Street
But in his eyes, he had given his son the greatest gift he had
to offer, at the greatest price he could ever pay. Police removed from
his pockets a rosary, a crucifix, a religious medallion, and a poem
clipped from a magazine.
The poem read:
“The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power
to tell just when the hands will stop at late or early hour…
Now is the only time you own. Live, love, toil with a will.
Place no faith in time. For the clock may soon be still.”
STORY NUMBER TWO
World War II produced many heroes. One such man was Lieutenant
Commander Butch O’Hare.
He was a fighter pilot assigned to the aircraft carrier
Lexington in the South Pacific.
One day his entire squadron was sent on a mission. After he was
airborne, he looked at his fuel gage and realized that someone had
forgotten to top off his fuel tank.
He would not have enough fuel to complete his mission and get
back to his ship.
His flight leader told him to return to the carrier.
Reluctantly, he dropped out of formation and headed back to the fleet.
As he was returning to the mother ship he saw something that
turned his blood cold: a squadron of Japanese aircraft was speeding its
way toward the American fleet.
The American fighters were gone on a sortie, and the fleet was
all but defenseless. He couldn’t reach his squadron and bring them back
in time to save the fleet. Nor could he warn the fleet of the
approaching danger. There was only one thing to do. He must somehow
divert them from the fleet.
Laying aside all thoughts of personal safety, he dove into the
formation of Japanese planes. Wing-mounted 50 calibers blazed as he
charged in, attacking one surprised enemy plane and then another. Butch
wove in and out of the now broken formation and fired at as many planes
as possible until all his ammunition was finally spent.
&n bsp; Undaunted, he continued the assault. He dove at the planes,
trying to clip a wing or tail in hopes of damaging as many enemy planes
as possible and rendering them unfit to fly.
Finally, the exasperated Japanese squadron took off in another
direction.
Deeply relieved, Butch O’Hare and his tattered fighter limped
back to the carrier.
Upon arrival, he reported in and related the event surrounding
his return. The film from the gun-camera mounted on his plane told the
tale. It showed the extent of Butch’s daring attempt to protect his
fleet.
He had, in fact, destroyed five enemy aircraft.
This took place on February 20, 1942, and for that action Butch
became the Navy’s first Ace of W.W.II, and the first Naval Aviator to
win the Congressional Medal of Honor.
A year later Butch was killed in aerial combat at the age of 29.
His home town would not allow the memory of this WW II hero to fade, and
today, O’Hare Airport in Chicago is named in tribute to the courage of
this great man.
So, the next time you find yourself at O’Hare International,
give some thought to visiting Butch’s memorial displaying his statue and
his Medal of Honor. It’s located between Terminals 1 and 2.
SO WHAT DO THESE TWO STORIES HAVE TO DO WITH EACH OTHER?
Butch O’Hare was “Easy Eddie’s” son.

You You may have heard a number of callers on the show in recent days talking about people from right here in the Upstate who were caught up in the Russian Invasion of Georgia as well as former Georgian’s now living here.
I wanted to share some of the news and photos with you that those listeners have made available to me.
First here’s the latest on Carolyn Rice, who’s served with Abortion Recovery Center in Georgia.

Safe Arrival in Georgia
Carolyn Rice
Aug 20, 2008 |
Dear faithful prayer partners, I arrived safely this morning in my beloved Georgia. At passport control, the officer smiled big and said, “thank you for coming to our country at such a time and we thank your country for the help they are giving us. Welcome!” Today I have been to Beteli center and we have planned a day of training on crisis and trauma for Saturday. They had already been thinking of which people would be invited to take this training, and decided the people had to be good listeners.
My interpreter’s name is Nino. (Katherine, it’s your Nino from camp!) Please pray for her as she has lots of work to get the materials in order before Saturday and to learn lots of new terminology. And pray for me – for wisdom in what and how to teach on Saturday. Pray for the participants who will be doing crisis debriefings among the refugees after the seminar.
After the planning meeting, I visited with some of the refugee children, played games with them, and held some babies there. Then I talked with some of the mothers about their experiences. Most of the refugees’ homes were burned, so they have no home to return to. Others left ahead of the soldiers and don’t know the state of their homes. They will stay at Beteli as refugees until the Russian soldiers leave and homes can be rebuilt.
The head Baptist pastor went to Gori today, and he said most of the Russian soldiers were lying around drunk or hungover. After all the looting and rioting, they apparently celebrated with lots of drinking. I know they too need to know God.
Many young girls and sometimes even the elderly from the villages were raped. These poor people have experienced so much trauma. Please pray that they will come to know Yahweh Rafah – our Healer. Many of them are angry with God and don’t understand why He would allow this tragedy to happen.
Now the Russians have said they will be out by Friday. But this is the third date they have given for withdrawal, and no progress made yet. However, there are no new reports of looting and burning.
I so appreciate your prayers! I want so much to be a blessing to these people, to help them see God’s character, His love for them. Thank you for partnering with me in this ministry!
Love,
Carolyn
Then there’s this email I received from Sean Reeves. His wife is originally from Georgia.
Then there is this email I got from Sean Reeves, his wife is from Georgia and her relatives are still there.
Hello Bob, Here are some pics that my wife’s Aunt has sent to us. Please know that the Russians have set fire to most of the forests to burn the wood needed for rebuilding. We are still grateful and Blessed that our family and friends there are still alive and accounted for. The situation for anyone outside Tbilisi is dire, people are homeless and starving. The Russian’s have looted nearly everything they could, and are actually setting up more permanent military equipment within Georgia’s borders while lying to the world that they are moving out. This situation is far from over, and I thank you for all the attention you are giving this situation. As Americans, we must know that the world is becoming much more dangerous place for our way of life, not safer as Democrats would like everyone to believe. Keep up the good work, more photos (terribly graphic) are forthcoming, but my in-laws are so busy helping other’s that time to download and send things to us is not a priority, and I am glad for that. My very best regards to you and your listeners, Sean Reeves and Mariam Demurishvili-ReevesThe pictures are below. Caution, they may be disturbing.

The least surprising thing to me this week has been the MSM and their concerted effort to discredit Dr. Jerome Corsi and his #1 NY Times best selling book “Obama Nation”.
After Dr. Corsi appeared with me last week on the show I knew it was only a matter of time before the MSM went after him for having the nerve, the temerity to attack the annointed “One”, Barack H— (Don’t say it!) Obama.
The Harvard educated Dr. Corsi was already on the loony left radar having co-authored the swift boating book that helped sink John Kerry’s 04 campaign. They can’t stand to see the same thing happen again. Namely that a book which deals with facts about their candidates background, associates and belief system would actually be published.
The attacks on Corsi began earlier this week when he appeared on Larry King Barely Alive on CNN. Larry made him sit next to Paul Waldman of the left-wing group Media Matters, who questioned Corsi like he was a co-host and continuously badgered him as a liar. King asked Waldman softballs: “Paul, you denounced the book as unfit for publication. Meaning?” King set the tone at the top of the show: “Tonight, is Barack Obama being swiftboated? The man who wrote that book on John Kerry now makes some incredible and even false claims about the current Democratic candidate.” They must have not felt that Larry was up to the kind of 3rd degree they wanted so they brought in this other guy to do their dirty work. CNN must’ve also been thinking about their liberal base and were being cautious not to offend them with Corsi’s apperance.
Now check out this non-partisan news story, the AP version of Obama’s camp reacting to Corsi’s book with this assesment…
“The book is a compilation of all the innuendo and false rumors against Obama.” Keep in mind, that’s not a quote from some of Obama’s people…it’s in the body of the news story by the AP reporter. What kind of false rumors did this reporter have in mind? The fact that Obama attended an American hating and race baiting church for 20 years?
Reporter Nedra Pickler then added…”Corsi writes for World Net Daily, a conservative Web site whose lead headline Thursday was ‘Astonishing photo claims: Dead Bigfoot stored on ice.’” I guess she overlooked the fact that the same story was carried on AP’s own newswire, as well as FOX and CNN, etc, etc. By the way she filed the story from Hawaii where she was busy covering Obama playing golf and body surfing.
Oh well, suspicions confirmed. The MSM is committed to an Obama victory in November and won’t stand for any criticism of their guy. Too bad for them that enough people want to know who Obama really is, where he comes from, what his belief system is, that they bought Dr. Corsi’s book in such numbers it debuted at #1 on the NY Times own best seller list. The ultimate insult! We told you this guy was lying about Obama and you bought his book anyway, how dare you!!!
Well, at least the MSM can congratulate themselves with their investigative reporting that brought out the truth on the John Edwards story. Oh, wait, sorry, that was the National Enquirer wasn’t it?

Hi,
Wow, some pretty great guests this week. Tuesday Congressman Gresham Barrett describing the scene on the floor of the U.S. House as the GOP stayed behind after Speaker Nancy Pelosi adjourned it for vacation without doing squat about gas prices. Then Dr. Jerome Corsi from World Net daily joined me to talk about his new book “Obama Nation”. Fascinating revelations about Obama’s connections to African politics. Dr. Corsi’s book is already a best seller on the NY Times Non-Fiction list and at Amazon.com.
Yesterday, the author of the other hot new book about Sen. Obama, David Freddoso the reporter for National Review told us about Obama’s start in Chicago politics and revealed how he had all his opponents thrown off the ballot and disqualifiied in his first statewide race. This book “The Case Against Barack Obama” is also headed for the best seller lists.
Today, Thursday, Phyllis Schlafly is on at 4 pm to give us details on her plans for the GOP convention. Mrs. Schlafly, the head of the Republican Coalition for Life will host the “Life of the Party Party”. The pro-life event is sure to attract attention to the effort to ensure delegates to the convention are aware of the influence of this group.
I have to apologize for the podcasts not being available this week for these shows. The device that records all the shows broke and had to be replaced, so we lost those shows. It should be fixed by today so Mrs. Schlafly’s interview will be available on the podcast section elsewhere on our website. Just click on the podcast icon to find it.
Thanks for listening, see you this afternoon!

Hi,
Hope you are weathering the heatwave okay. Must be “Global Warming”, huh? Right.
Some great guests coming up on the program this week. Today at 3pm 3rd District Congressman Gresham Barrett is on the phone to talk about the GOP’s attempt to force a vote in Congress on oil drilling. Then at 5pm, Dr. Jerome Corsi from World Net Daily is on to talk about his new book “The Obama Nation, Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality”. We’ll also get the latest from Dr. Corsi on the Gov’t. program allowing Mexican trucks on US highways.
Then later this week, Wednesday at 3pm Myrna Sokoff who is a writer and co Producer of the new movie “An American Carol” talks about the comedy directed by David Zucker (Airplane, Naked Gun, etc). They have made a film that attacks the liberal left with humor. With so many anti-war and anti-American films recently its refreshing to see that Hollywood actually has a conservative voice also. Then at 5pm David Freddoso a reporter for the National Review is on to talk about his new book “The Case Against Barack Obama”. Very thouroughly researched look into Obama’s connections to Chicago machine politics and the beginnings of Obama’s career in politics.
I’m also working on having Phyllis Schlafly on the show later this week to talk about a project she’s working on for the GOP Convention in Minnesota.
Yesterday in the last hour of the show I read a letter to the editor of the Richmond Times-Dispatch. I got a number of emails asking me to reprint it here. Happy to, so here you go..see you on the radio!
Best,
Bobby Mc
Beware Charismatic Men Who Preach ‘Change’
Editor, Times-Dispatch:
Each year I get to celebrate Independence Day twice. On June 30 I celebrate my independence day and on July 4 I celebrate America’s. This year is special, because it marks the 40th anniversary of my independence.
On June 30, 1968, I escaped Communist Cuba and a few months later I was in the United States to stay. That I happened to arrive in Richmond on Thanksgiving Day is just part of the story, but I digress.
I’ve thought a lot about the anniversary this year. The election-year rhetoric has made me think a lot about Cuba and what transpired there. In the late 1950s, most Cubans thought Cuba needed a change, and they were right. So when a young leader came along, every Cuban was at least receptive.
When the young leader spoke eloquently and passionately and denounced the old system, the press fell in love with him. They never questioned who his friends were or what he really believed in. When he said he would help the farmers and the poor and bring free medical care and education to all, everyone followed. When he said he would bring justice and equality to all, everyone said “Praise the Lord.” And when the young leader said, “I will be for change and I’ll bring you change,” everyone yelled, “Viva Fidel!”
But nobody asked about the change, so by the time the executioner’s guns went silent the people’s guns had been taken away. By the time everyone was equal, they were equally poor, hungry, and oppressed. By the time everyone received their free education it was worth nothing. By the time the press noticed, it was too late, because they were now working for him. By the time the change was finally implemented Cuba had been knocked down a couple of notches to Third-World status. By the time the change was over more than a million people had taken to boats, rafts, and inner tubes. You can call those who made it ashore anywhere else in the world the most fortunate Cubans. And now I’m back to the beginning of my story.
Luckily, we would never fall in America for a young leader who promised change without asking, what change? How will you carry it out? What will it cost America?
Would we?
Manuel Alvarez Jr. Sandy Hook.
